Tim and I watched Yes Man earlier. I didn’t expect to enjoy this movie because I didn’t really like its trailer but hey I enjoyed it! As usual, we didn’t have plans to watch it but because we can’t think of anything else to do we just decided to watch Yes Man. Tim is going home tomorrow to Kabankalan because he’s going to attend the funeral of his Tita and he won’t be back until the 15th (my birthday) so we kinda like celebrated Valentine’s Day today.
As always, Jim Carrey is a great actor and he didn’t fail to make us laugh. Although he exaggerates/overacts sometimes. Yes Man is an American comedy film directed by Peyton Reed and starring Jim Carrey as Carl Allen and Zooey Deschanel as Allison. The film is based on the true story and 2005 book The Yes Man by British humourist Danny Wallace (who has a brief cameo in the film). Well I learned a lot of things from this movie. One is too enjoy life to the fullest and to not live inside a box. To be SPONTANEOUS and unpredictable ( I like being unpredictable). And to be imaginative. I myself don’t really like to live a boring life. That’s why I take risks. That’s why I hate boring people. That’s why I love my bebeh.
I learned a lot of things about Jim Carrey too. And I admire the guy more than ever. In the movie there was a part there that he bungee jumped from a bridge and I was telling my bebeh that I am pretty sure that Jim Carrey did his own stunt and I was right! He bungee jumped from that bridge himself! And did you know that Jim Carrey also knows how to play the guitar? In fact he’s been playing the guitar since he was a little boy. And he also learned basic Korean for a scene. He spoke the language really well, I give him credit for that.
So that’s it guys. If you haven’t watched this movie yet then I recommend that you do because you won’t regret it. Even most of the critics from Rotten Tomatoes liked the movie and gave it positive reviews.
I’m going back to work now. Thanks to a week’s rest and being idle because of my lack of internet connection made it kinda hard for me to go back to my sleeping pattern and made great damage to my work and my wallet. Well if I don’t work I won’t get any payments. If I don’t earn money then I won’t be able to finance my dreams. I have to earn in order for me to also live my life to the fullest right? That’s the reality.
Ooops by the way guys I have started utilizing my Flickr account as you might have noticed on the right hand side of my blog so if you wanna see more photos of me, my friends, my bebeh, my family, my cousins, relatives, EVERYONE, everything and anything — just check out my Flickr photostream okay? Okay!
And I’m hooked to Beyonce’s songs right now. I keep repeating “If I Were A Boy” and “Single Ladies.” And have you heard of FM Static’s song entitled “Tonight”? It’s a really nice song. Teens in the Philippines love it. Also I was reminded of Third Eye Blind’s “Jumper” because it was featured in the movie Yes Man. So these are the songs I’m listening to right now. Alright I’m really going back to work right now. TTYL!
Can you believe it? It’s already December and 2008 is going to end in like 28 days! How quickly time flies these days – even if you’re not having fun.
Anyway, I’ve finished reading Veronica Decides To Die (Paulo Coelho) already. Actually I finished reading it last week. It’s a really good book. Hey guys do you know if its okay if I post excerpts of the novel here in my blog? Like my favorite lines and that kind of stuff? I mean I won’t be having copyright issues if I do that right? As long as I cite Paulo Coelho always? And I could also link his website here. Because I really want to write those beautiful and meaningful lines here. So I could share it to y’all so I could convince all of you to buy this book as well! You’ll get your money’s worth and you’ll learn something. I promise. Tim is reading it now. At least I think he is.
By the way, I still haven’t gotten over Twilight yet. What a great movie. Sometimes I wish I have a vampire for a boyfriend to. They’re just so handsome and cool. At least that’s how I see them in the movies. I’m going to buy a DVD of Twilight so I could watch it again. Robert Pattinson is the best. He’s really come a long way since portraying the role of Cedric Diggory in the movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I’m also looking forward on watching The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. I hear its a great movie. I have to read the novel its based on too. Written by John Boyne.
Found more songs entitledMary Janeyesterday. Although I’m not sure if the composers wrote the song about a person or a thing. You know what I mean. The Click Five’s Mary Jane is on repeat mode in my head. I’m having the last song syndrome again.
Hhmmmm. What else am I going to write about. Tim is in Roxas again since yesterday. I wonder when he’ll be back. Lately he’s been complaining a lot – more than the usual on how he’s so tired of traveling. Its part of his job so he has to do it. Its great to travel, but he got tired of it. I feel sorry for him. Well that’s it. Just wanted to welcome December. Christmas is near. So excited! Til my next post!
Today is Saturday. And Saturday is my day to go out and unwind. Of course as always I was with Tim. We watched a movie today. We actually didn’t plan to but I was intrigued with Twilight. Because Monica kept texting me yesterday to watch this movie with her. So Tim and I went to Robinson’s Place and watched Twilight. And too bad Monica wasn’t able to watch it with us. Sorry Nix – unplanned. Hehehe.
The movie Twilight is based on the novel of the same name by Stephenie Meyer. Kristen Stewart is Bella Swan and Robert Pattinson is Edward Cullen. I enjoyed the movie. Its about a teenage girl who fell in love with a 108 year old vampire but is physically seventeen. They fell in love. And this put Bella’s life in danger. Edward and his family risked their lives to save Bella from three nomadic vampires. I’m going to watch the next two movies because its actually a trilogy. But surely Bella chose to be a vampire too in order to be with Edward forever. I have to read the novels to understand everything. I think it’s a classic story of love that conquers all. Twilight brought out the romantic in me. And I recommend this movie to everyone. So yes I am also planning to buy the novels this movie was based on soon. I’m sure the novels are far better than the movie. By the way I love the soundtrack of this movie too. Especially The Fray’s How To Save A Life and Linkin Park’s Leave Out All The Rest.
Last Saturday night we went to Ryan’s to check out Rockathon – a battle of the bands activity sponsored by the Xbox committee of Callbox. I realized that this was going to be the last party I’ll attend as a Callbox employee. I have resigned and my last day is going to be on the 4th of November. But I haven’t been to the office for a week now. I kind of miss my friends – especially Shey but I don’t miss being a telemarketer! Thank God I’m over that.
I went with Tim and my brother – Vinboy. I met up with Shey and Dianne. We gave all out support to our department’s band which is composed of Louie, Roger, Richard and Lynn. They were awesome and as expected they won. Of course – IT na guid na!
I’ll miss you guys. Text text lang ah.

The bridge is like a symbol of my life now.

And here’s a clip of one of the best songs of the night from my YouTube account:
I have been listening to various kinds of music since I was a child. I remember when I was a little girl, every time my father plays his tapes and CDs, I join with the singing even though I don’t know the lyrics of the songs. It just makes me happy.
My father has an extensive collection of music. If I’m down and I want to listen to something that could really lift up my spirit – I just listen to reggae music – especially Bob Marley’s music.
I watched the movie “I Am Legend” just last week. Actually this movie came out last summer but I didn’t have the time to watch it then. Or maybe I was just afraid of the theme? Hehe. I thought it was about zombies and everybody dying again or something. That’s why I kept putting off watching it even though Tim has bought a DVD. Well, to make the story short, I finally watched it last week. And I scolded myself for waiting too long. It really is a great movie! I admire Will Smith’s acting. He is a very good actor. The movie is about not giving up and having faith.
Now why am I talking about “I Am Legend” now when I was talking about reggae music earlier? Here’s why – Will Smith’s character’s favorite song was Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds!” Again, like what happened when I watched the movie “Mamma Mia”,memories came flooding back. Three Little Birds is my most favorite song by Bob Marley. I’m not a die-hard reggae fan but I do take pleasure in this kind of music and I go to bars and restaurants that feature reggae bands from time to time. It’s a great way to relieve stress.
I know Robert “Bob” Nesta Marley died even before I was born ( I was born 1985, Marley died 1981) but it doesn’t hinder me from admiring his music, opinions and beliefs. He’s a good man. He was born to a white English Jamaican father and a black Jamaican mother. He suffered from racial prejudice as a youth because of his mixed racial origins and also faced questions about his own racial identity throughout his life but instead of dwelling in this, he made music and made himself widely known in the whole world. He is a revered performer of reggae music and is credited for helping spread Jamaican music to the worldwide audience.
Now, I’ll put here in my blog Bob Marley and the Wailer’s song, my personal favorite – “Three Little Birds.” This is a song that could cheer everyone up on a bad day or can make us pursue our dreams. A song that makes us not want to give up. Even though Bob Marley is dead, his songs still lives in us. Enjoy!
Three Little Birds
Dont worry about a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin: dont worry about a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right!
Rise up this mornin,
Smiled with the risin sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin, (this is my message to you-ou-ou:)
Singin: dont worry bout a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin: dont worry (dont worry) bout a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right!
Rise up this mornin,
Smiled with the risin sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin, this is my message to you-ou-ou:
Singin: dont worry about a thing, worry about a thing, oh!
Every little thing gonna be all right. dont worry!
Singin: dont worry about a thing – I wont worry!
cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin: dont worry about a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right – I wont worry!
Singin: dont worry about a thing,
cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin: dont worry about a thing, oh no!
cause every little thing gonna be all right!
I was doing the laundry yesterday morning when I heard this beautiful song. It has become my habit to listen to the radio while doing my chores. My father told me once when I was young that singing or just simply listening to the radio will make any chore or work easier and it helps pass the time away. Before you know it, the dreaded job is done. I have since followed his advice and I’ve grown to love it. Well back to the topic. Hehe. I was listening to Home Radio 89.5 when I heard a new song. Home Radio 89.5 by the way is my favorite radio station. When my ears are not plugged to my iPod–I listen to Home Radio. I heard a very beautiful song that caught me with its inspiring and heartwarming lyrics. I remembered my bebeh when I was listening to it. How he was there when I needed a friend and someone to help me. That time when I was so down. That time when I had to go away because of some bad thing that I’ve done. And countless times that I’ve been bad and needed his help. My bebeh knows all the ’skeletons in my closet’ and yet he still loves me and accepts me for who I am. Instead of forsaking me he helps me overcome my bad side and helps me grow. He’s always there by my side to guide me and make me not be the person I was before. Now you guys whose wasting the time to read this post know the reason why I really love my bebeh. Why I am always writing about him. I’m just so addicted to my bebeh. I keep telling him that he’s my lifeline and I’m sure that I’ll die if he leaves me.
Now back to the song. I didn’t know the title of the song so what I did is I wrote down the chorus then googled it at the office. I found out that this song was written and sung by Corrine May (born Corrine Foo May Ying) . She’s a Singaporean singer-songwriter whose currently based in Los Angeles, CA. I am now a fan of Corrine May. And this song is going to be a part of my wedding.
On The Side Of Me
Corrinne May
I’m not the easiest person to love
I’m often the one who lets things go unresolved
Yet you choose to be, on the side of me, on the side of me
Yet you choose to be, on the side of me, on the side of me.
I’m not too proud of some things I’ve done in my life
The skeletons in my closet are too big for me to hide
Yet you choose to be on the side of me, on the side of me
Blessed charity, you’re on the side of me, on the side of me.
Everyone needs a friend to hold
when it’s cold outside, and there’s no place to go
Everyone needs a friend to hold
All alone I cried there was no place to go
I remember when nobody cared but you.
I’m not the easiest person to love
But you opened your heart and show me what I’m worth
Cos you choose to be on the side of me, on the side of me
What a mystery, you’re on the side of me, on the side of me.
Everyone needs a friend to hold
when it’s cold outside, and there’s no place to go
Everyone needs a friend to hold
All alone I cried there was no place to go
I remember when nobody cared
I remember when nobody cared but you
Cos you choose to be, on the side of me, on the side of me.
I’m so proud of Arnel Pineda. He’s the new vocalist for the famous band Journey. Everytime I watch this video of him singing I just can’t help but be proud to be a Filipino. Filipinos are so talented. It’s good to know that our talents are being recognized by the world. Take Arnel Pineda and Charisse Pempengco as examples. I’m just so proud of ‘em!
And here’s the lyrics of the song as well:
FAITHFULLY
Highway run
Into the midnight sun
Wheels go round and round
Youre on my mind
Restless hearts
Sleep alone tonight
Sendin all my love
Along the wire
They say that the road
Aint no place to start a family
Right down the line
Its been you and me
And lovin a music man
Aint always what its supposed to be
Oh girl you stand by me
Im forever yours…faithfully
Circus life
Under the big top world
We all need the clowns
To make us smile
Through space and time
Always another show
Wondering where I am
Lost without you
And being apart aint easy
On this love affair
Two strangers learn to fall in love again
I get the joy
Of rediscovering you
Oh girl, you stand by me
Im forever yours…faithfully
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Faithfully, Im still yours
Im forever yours
Ever yours…faithfully
Have you heard of Colbie Caillat’s songs? If you haven’t, what planet are
you from? My favorite song this week is Colbie’s “The Little Things”–and
I’m having a major last song syndrome here that Raucel whose the lady sitting next to me now is asking me to stop singing!
Here’s the lyrics:
The Little Things
The little things, you do to me are
taking me over, I wanna show ya
everything inside of me
like a nervous heart that, is crazy beating
my feet are stuck here, against the pavement
I wanna break free, I wanna make it
closer to your eyes, get your attention
before you pass me by..
So back up back up take another chance
Don’t you mess up mess up I don’t wanna lose you
Wake up wake up this aint just a thing that you
Give up give up don’t you say that I’d be
Better off better off, sleepin by myself and wonderin’
If I’m better off better off, without you boy..
So don’t just leave me hanging on..
And every time, you notice me by
holdin me closely, and sayin sweet things
I don’t believe, that it could be
you speekin your mind and, sayin the real thing
my feet have broke free, and I am leavin
I’m not gonna stand here, feelin lonely but
I wont forget you, and I won’t think this
was just a waste of time..
So back up back up take another chance
Don’t you mess up mess up I don’t wanna lose you
Wake up wake up this ain’t just a thing that you
Give up give up don’t you say that I’d be
Better off better off, sleepin by myself and wonderin’
If I’m better off better off, wit out you boy..
