We are here in Roxas City, Capiz for the Sinadya sa Halaran Festival 2011 and so far we’re having so much fun! During this time of the year you can feel the intensity of faith and fun of the Capiznons as they enjoy this grateful celebration of sharing of blessings. The theme for this year is “Paghiliusa kg pagkinasadya kaupod sang Birhen Santa Maria.” The festival started yesterday and it is ongoing until December 11th. So you still have time to come here!
During the solemn fluvial procession lighted by candles and multicolored lights in floats of the saints and along both sides of the Panay River, devotees of the Immaculate Conception jubilantly exclaimed “Viva Santa Maria”. Immaculate Conception by the way is the patroness of Roxas City and the Archdiocese.
Other highlights of the Halaran Festival includes the pyrotechnic display, the agri-fair, Mutya sang Sinadya sa Halaran Pageant (which is happening tonight!), street dancing to the tune of Capiznon songs with the Higantes and my personal favorite – the seafood festival!
I have above the complete schedule of the Halaran so please check it out and come visit Capiz – now na!
And I have more photos in my Picasa album as well.
